Mark Zuckerberg Facebook

In an era where the accepted way of doing things is changing (Brexit in the U.K. and a television reality star ascending to the presidency of the most powerful nation on earth), is one of the world’s youngest self-made billionaires about to run for the presidency of the United States of America in 2020?

Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of social media giant “Facebook” will be 36 years old in 2020. The United States Constitution requires candidates to be 35 to run for the presidency (25 for the House of Representatives and 30 to run for the U.S. Senate).

There are plenty of indications from Zuckerberg that this could be his plan.

He has recently appointed former Obama aid David Plouffe as head of policy for his charity foundation, “The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative”. He has declared that he is no longer an atheist and he has committed this year to visit every state in America and meet people. He stated that he wanted to “get out and talk to more people about how they’re living, working and thinking about the future” in light of a “tumultuous last year,”

But perhaps the most significant indication of his future intentions is the redraft of Facebook’s proxy statement allowing him to retain control of the company while serving in elected office.

Only time will tell what his real intentions are, but in a day and age whereby if you have enough money and you can reach out to the people anything is possible, I would not bet against it.
