The Ferrari F40 has recently been named as the most iconic Supercar ever.
Ferrari’s legendary F40 supercar has come top of a poll to find out the best 10 supercars of all time.
The poll was carried out by the organisers of The Fast Car Festival due to take place over the weekend of 30-31 July at Donington Park in Derbyshire.
The poll was carried out last month and the Ferrari gained 18% of the total votes and pipped the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione to top spot.
The F40 was produced from 1987 to 1992; it was designed and built to celebrate the brand’s 40th anniversary in 1988.
The recommended retail price at the time for an F40 was US$400,000 (over US$800,000 equivalent in today’s money).
It is a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, two-door coupé and was the successor to the Ferrari 288 GTO. It was powered by a 2.9L (2936 cc) version of the GTO’s V8 engine.
The Ferrari F40 was considered at that time to be the fastest, most powerful car available to the public.
The top 10 supercars of all time as voted for were:
- Ferrari F40
- Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione
- Ferrari La Ferrari
- McLaren F1
- Porsche 911
- Pagani Zonda
- Ferrari Enzo
- Audi R8
- Jaguar XJ220
