The Wealth Scene chats to Sean Moriarty, the CEO of residential resort destination, Quinta do Lago.
- Tell us about the market for residential projects at Quinta?
The market continues to be very buoyant here. Over the past three years the demographic has got younger attracted by our wellness offering and all the activities on offer at THE CAMPUS.
We have a number of attractive new projects for buyers and investors. The open plan modernist style Lagula – with the best of Quinta’s amenities right on its doorstep. This is on the market for just under €6m.
Currently, underway in – to many one of the most sought-after locations in Quinta do Lago is Reserva which overlooks the lake and with ocean views. It offers one of 26 3-4 bedroom lateral living 250 square metre apartments each with tropical landscaping, plunge pools and membership to the Residents’ only Reserva club with pool, gym, private tennis and padel, events area and children’s play area. Available for sale for from €2m and for completion July 2019. Apart from the unique location, the 24-hour concierge service and the lock-and- leave option make this a very compelling offering.
If a buyer loves the location of Reserva but is attracted more the idea of creating a home from the ground up – we have SL10 a plot with golf and lake views and walking distance to the beach – a stunning location to craft your own dream home.
The third offering is at San Lorenzo North, a neighborhood of 26 sites in a peaceful enclave on the market for €2.6m surrounded by a lake and pine groves. Owners can have free rein over the design to create their dream home or with the guidance of QdL design and project management teams.
- How do you select architects & designers?
You’ll see no high rise developments here. What really stands out about Quinta is that we continue to work to the original masterplan laid out some 45 years ago. We work with the talented national and international architects who understand the masterplan but who also respect nature and our beautiful surroundings here at Quinta. Safety and privacy are also a big part of the appeal here so this is also a key consideration in the design process.
- Are you seeing any trends – amongst styles? Or buyer demographic?
Our demographic is certainly getting younger, coming with ever greater international influences, appreciation for design and the expectation that home and lifestyle go hand in hand. Evolutions such as our new state of the art sports and wellness facility, THE CAMPUS at Quinta do Lago support this new direction.
We have much more to offer than ever before – and a large proportion of our visitors and buyers are now under 40 with young families. Many grew up themselves visiting Quinta and as our offering has become even better, they want to create memories here with their own kids.
We are seeing a resurgence of interest in purchasing plots as a viable alternative to complete properties. This is underpinned of course by Portugal’s unshakeable popularity as a place to visit, live or invest. Also, Quinta presents this compelling paradox of being remarkably underdeveloped with a restricted built area of just 3% across 2,000 acres of terrain yet the freedom to develop the house of your dreams.
New plots are rare and sought-after for example we have recently had a new plot close to San Lorenzo golf course, a short walk from the beach, and lake with stunning views become available for 3million which is attracting a lot of interest.
- Tell us more about The Campus?
Quinta is changing- with the newly launched The Campus, our 45,000 sq. ft. high performance training facility which completed this summer. It is built for elite performance but available to all, whatever your level; the facility is designed to accommodate professional athletes and sports people as well as people of all levels and abilities. You can enjoy high-performance training facilities, as well as regular tennis and padel tennis events, cycling tours of the West Coast, family bike trips, swimming, yoga & Pilates, year-round boot camps as well as school holiday camps and activities for kids. In the surroundings are a wide range of water, beach and lake sports as well as cultural and nature trips. There is a tangible sense of excitement over the CAMPUS and with all the activities it has to offer, it really cements our position as a year-round community and destination.
- Why do you think people buy at Quinta do Lago and how do you anticipate it changing over the next 5 years?
Even during the recession, we invested €50M in improving our offering and continue to do so. With a consistent build masterplan, 5 star lifestyle amenities, varied restaurant options from an elegant steakhouse, to the lively lakeside restaurants, beach bar and pizzeria; as well as a vibrant year round events calendar all within a safe and secure community – we like to think we have the complete package!
Over the next five years, – we simply want to continue in the pursuit of making our offering at Quinta do Lago one of the finest luxury residential resort communities and lifestyle destinations in Europe!
