The beefed up Jaguar XJ-C 12 driven by the fictional character John Steed in ‘The New Avengers’ TV Show is to be auctioned in October by H&H Classics.
The 1976 registered, pillarless British Racing Green Coupe, sported a 12 cylinder 5.3 litre engine, Broadspeed body kit and extra-wide wheels and was an experimental model designed just for the show.
The car is now in need of some restoration, having been dry stored for several. However it does represent an ideal find for the enthusiast looking for an iconic British car to restore to its former glory.
John Steed was the eloquent Bowler hatted super spy dressed in a Saville row suit, the car was consummate with his image and persona.
The character was played by actor Patrick Macnee, who sadly passed away in June of this year aged 93.
Damian Jones, Sales Director of H&H Classics, comments: “Those of us who remember the series did not at one time or another fancy ourselves at the wheel of this car? Now there is a chance to make that fantasy a reality for a very nominal amount. And who knows, maybe the chance to find a modern-day Purdey in the passenger seat!”
